Hello friends,

We will be officially canceling our June event, and replacing it with a virtual event. More information, registration links, and information on making donations will be posted later this week. While this is a free event, all donations made will be going to Ye Olde Commons. (We are letting you know now so that you can start budgeting appropriately if you do plan on donating.)

Our current plan is to run all day Saturday the 27th, with a possibility of some portions of the event running Friday night and Sunday morning. A more specific schedule will be provided closer to the event date. We are looking for both PCs and NPCs for the event; we will post the registration links once they are available.

Currently, we are planning to run the event through Discord as our main hub of operations. We recommend you familiarize yourself with the voice and text chat functions. You can download Discord at discord.com .

We know many people haven't attended a virtual event like this, and recognize that people will have questions. We will be putting together an FAQ with regards on how the event will be run. We would prefer that all questions about event logistics are held until this FAQ is published. Feel free to ask any other questions below and we will do our best to answer them in a timely manner.

Thank you,

-Rourkie, on behalf of the Isles staff

Hello friends,

Given the nationwide concerns of a looming health crisis, the Isles staff would like to like to convey the following information:

First, at this time we are still planning on holding our LARP weekend in April. If this changes, we will certainly let folks know. We are monitoring the situation and understand that things could change in the future, but for now we are still running the event.

To that end, please let us know as soon as possible if you are planning to attend, or, more importantly, are planning on not attending. This helps us prepare ahead of time, and as people make their own decisions on attending events, please keep us informed. You don't have to pay until you are at the door, but a quick email to admin@theisleslarp.org will help us tremendously. (This satisfies your requirement for pre-registration as well.) You will not be penalized if you change your mind - we just need some rough counts for now.

If you are feeling ill for any reason, please take care of yourself and do not attend the event. Our staff is more than willing to accommodate for any financial or story-based concerns regarding missing a weekend, but for your own safety and that of the rest of the organization, we would prefer that you do not attend if you aren't feeling well.

Please let us know if you have any additional concerns or suggestions regarding this situation, and we will be happy to address them as they come up. Our topmost priority is the safety of our members, and will continue to be the driving force behind our administrative decisions. We will do everything to keep you up to date as this continues.

Sincerely,
Rourkie, General Manager of the Isles LARP, on behalf of all the Isles staff.

Good afternoon everyone,

As we gear up toward our second season, I have some announcements to make, mostly involving event logistics going forward. Thank you for reviewing all of the important information listed here below.

Our events page and registration has been updated to our 2020 dates. You can preregister here: http://theisleslarp.org/Event-Information or you can always send a note to admin@theisleslarp.org to let us know you're attending. Our event dates this year are April 10-12, June 26-28, October 2-4, and November 20-22, 2020.

The cost of the Adventurer tier has gone up slightly from $90 to $95. The Townsperson cost will remain at $65. This change is more reflective of the administrative costs tied to running each event.

However, to help offset this increase, we are offering a New Player Referral Discount. By referring a new player to the Isles, you and that new player each get a $20 discount on their first event. This bonus stacks with all other discount costs, including itself. So, at the Adventurer tier, if you bring in 5 new players for an event, your event cost is $0, and each of their first events is $75. If you are intending to bring in more than new player per event, please send an email to admin@theisleslarp.org .

The Isles will no longer be taking direct payment for meal reservations. Please make payment arrangements with Ye Olde Commons at http://yeoldecommons.com/meal-reservations.htm . We will still be taking a headcount of interested people so they can plan for meals, and you will still be able to pay at site for your meals or change your mind last minute - we will just no longer be taking payment on our website. Everything else will stay the same.

Also, a rulebook update is in the works, which we are hoping to provide to you in the next couple of weeks. Please let us know if you have any continued feedback regarding our rule set as we work to streamline them coming into our second season.

We are very excited to continue to tell our story, and look forward to seeing you for this year's events!

Hello everyone,

I apologize for the lateness of this post. The new rulebook can be downloaded at the link below:
http://theisleslarp.org/Portals/0/Images/TIH%20Rules%209-20-19b.pdf

Please note the following:

As previously announced, the in-between game XP rewards have increased. Please see the rulebook for further details. Laura will be updating your XP totals as she sends out your new character sheet for updating.

Once you hit 10 total stamina in a pool, the XP cost for each additional stamina point remains at 24 XP per stamina point.

Many skills have had their stamina costs reduced in order to allow for better game balance.

The list of items available for purchase is a rough guide based on Hardestaani commerce. There is no guarantee that a merchant will have those items, or that the cost will be exactly what is listed. More items might be available for purchase than what is listed. Only apprentice-level items have been included on the list.

The bard skills will be updated separately. We are working to get these rules up and running as quick as possible. If you are interested in any of these skills please let us know.

I'm sure there is plenty that I am forgetting, but that's an overview of the major changes. Change log is below.

Thanks! Looking forward to seeing you all in a few weeks!

Hello everyone. The updated version of the rulebook will be posted late Wednesday evening. Before it goes live, I wanted to make you all aware of a change we are making to the amount of XP you have earned between events.

As you all know, we have been conservative about the amount of XP we have rewarded in comparison to some of the cost of the skills and other attributes in the rulebook. We wanted to let an event or two go by to allow us a baseline as to how the new system worked, and we didn't want to take away any skills from our players if we had to scale back.
Based on your feedback and our observations, all XP earned between events will now be doubled. This includes XP for events, PELs, Cleanup, NPCing other LARPS and donations. The only thing this does not apply to is starting XP. So, each event is (at its baseline) now worth 40 XP (20 XP for attending, 10 for cleanup, and 10 for PEL).
This change is retroactive, so any rewards you have earned up to this point have also been doubled. Remember that all character updates should go through logistics@theislesLARP.org, and if you are unsure of how much XP you have to spend, you may also check in with Laura Hodgkins Schultz there as well.
We wanted to announce this early so you can plan on where you are spending your extra XP.

Also, as a reminder, please preregister if you think you are going to be coming to the event. Preregistration can be done through our site, www.theislesLARP.org, or can be sent via email to admin@theislesLARP.org . You don't have to pay to preregister, and can pay on site, but if you show up and we don't have you on our list, you don't get the $20 preregistration discount.

That's it for now. Looking forward to seeing you all in October!
