"It is not out of fear, but out of love in which I act; Love for the people of this empire, my empire, and I will protect it any way I can."

Emperor Veldathis the Unifier - Incumbent Emperor of Hardestaan

It has been 20 years since the new Hive Queen was discovered on the 9th World of the new Hardestaani Empire, Asylum. Since then, a tentative peace treaty had been forged between the Hardestaani Empire and the Hive, which many felt would bring in a new reign of peace and prosperity. However, the growing movement of citizens united under a common cry of “Hardestaan for Hardestaanos,” led by the newly of-age Emperor Veldathis himself, has caused a schism between those looking to embrace new cultures and lands into the Empire, and those looking to close citizenship to only the humans of Hardestaanos, the Heartworld.

As civil war looms on the horizon, both political factions temporarily put aside their differences as the discovery of a new continent on Asylum had been announced. Once again, all eyes are on the Ninth Isle as both factions look for adventurers brave enough to represent their interests in the new land. There is plenty of opportunity for all as the empire sends out expeditions to the uncharted territories. Will you set sail in the Emperor's name? Or will another purpose guide your destiny? Only you can answer that question, in The Isles: Homeland.

Play how you want to play.

The Isles: Homeland is a multi-genre LARP designed around a “play what you want to play” model. Our staff has pre-created a variety of races and genres to pick from, but if none of them fit your character, we can help you customize a race to suit your needs.

This particular campaign focuses around exploration, expansion, and a looming civil war temporarily delayed by this new discovery. As you create your character concept, keep these things in mind. It may be helpful for you to pick one of the following suggested motivations, but of course you can also pick your own:

  • Traditionalist: You are embarking as a representative of the Empire looking to garner support for the cause of the "Hardestaan for Hardestaanos" movement. You are exploring to bring back information and other resources to the empire which might be useful in the coming years to keep the Empire more insular. Establishing a foothold on Asylum’s new continent is critical to swaying the tide of war to the Emperor's will and see that his vision is unfaltering.
  • Activist: You are embarking as a representative of the underground activists looking to garner support for the egalitarian cause. You are exploring to bring back information and other resources to the empire which might be useful in the coming years to keep the Empire more open to all peoples. Establishing a foothold on Asylum’s new continent is critical to swaying the tide of war and proving to the Emperor that his vision for Hardestaan is flawed.
  • Opportunist: You are embarking as a representative of a mercantile company or goods industry looking for resources and/or treasure for your patron corporation. You are exploring to bring back information and raw materials which your employer might find useful in the coming years to meet the supply and demand that war always creates. Establishing a foothold on Asylum’s new continent is critical to getting a leg up on your competitors and mark you as a key player in Asylum’s future.
  • Scholar: You are embarking as a representative of the scientific community. You are exploring to bring back information for the greater good of science and knowledge to share with the intellectual community. Establishing a scientific community at the forefront of a new land is an exciting opportunity to get your feet wet, and make your name known as you uncover the unknown secrets of Asylum’s past.
  • Treasure Hunter: You are embarking as a representative of ... no one but yourself. You are exploring to bring back information and other resources to line your pockets with wealth and knowledge. Land is cheap when no one is around to claim it, and establishing a foothold on Asylum’s new continent will help you garner the wealth you so clearly deserve.

A character builder will be available on the website shortly. In the mean time, please contact us with any character ideas you may have, so we can help you build your own personal story.

Harnessing the power of imagination and technology.

The Isles: Homeland is a story-centric LARP which uses audio and visual effects to create an immersive experience for our players. We use the Accelerant base rule set, which is a “what you see is what you get” (WYSIWYG) experience. We use a combination of modern technology, interactive puzzles, and “live” set pieces to help our players feel like they are “in” the story. We also feel that player agency is important, and that decisions matter. Our team of storytellers reacts to decisions our players make, and are open to changing our stories based on characters’ plot decisions. We put our players at the heart of our story, and do everything we can to make that story come to life.

Friendly, creative, and proactive to meet all of our LARP community's needs.

Our staff works hard to meet your needs in game and out of game with over 100 years of collective experience running LARPs. We work hard to provide you with a unique experience catered to the individual, which includes targeted plotlines for individual players, reacting to feedback, and being able to adapt to issues as they arise. Should you have a problem at one of our events, we will strive to correct it immediately.

Versatile gameplay is available for all levels of physical ability.

The Isles: Homeland has a variety of different levels of physical gameplay available to its members. We have two options available for individuals: Adventurer and Townsperson. The typical option most LARPers will select is "Adventurer," which grants access to the full site, module buildings, and wooded areas. However, for those with limited mobility or cannot participate in combat, we have a "Townsperson" option, which allows for participation within the tavern building, and on special occasions, within the module buildings. This option is available so that those within the community who might be suffering from injury or have mobility restrictions can still be involved.
